Women’s Boxing Gold Coast – I stepped into my first boxing club when I was 14 years old and never looked back, I am now 32 and have trained in England and Australia, competed at competition level and have just qualified as a Boxing Coach. I now train at a top Boxing Club the Gold Coast. Boxing has been a massive part of my life for a long time and it not only keeps me fit & makes me happy. It has also become my passion and helping women transform their lives and achieve their goals in boxing is something I want to be a part of!

Women’s Boxing is on the rise with more and more women taking up Boxing for fitness. Not only is the sport a fantastic cardio work out (burning around 1000 calories an hour) it is also great for mental strength, discipline and empowerment!

So, women of the Gold Coast, here are my 7 reasons why you should take up boxing:

Double Jab Jogger

1)   It’s a great cardio workout

with over 1000 calories burned an hour

2)   It’s great for toning arms, legs and belly

constant work on the bags or padwork will give you the slender muscly arms you’ve always dreamed of, the footwork drills and bent knee stance will tone your legs and the killer ab workout at the end will leave you with a washboard stomach!

3)   It increases your reaction speed

Theres nothing like a punch in the face to get you on your toes however if the contact side is not for you then the foot work drills and partner drills will definitely increase your reaction time and speed skills

4)   Self-defence and empowerment

Boxing makes you feel alive! Not only does it teach you great self-defence skills from potential attackers – and let’s face it girls this is something we all need! It makes you feel 10 feet tall and as if you are capable of anything. The self-confidence boxing has given me cannot be brought!

Boxing requires self discipline, making you accountable for your own training and your own achievements – this is something which can also be transferred into everyday life

6)   Mental Strength

The skill to keep going no matter how tired you are is something which requires mental strength and boxing can provide a ton of situations where you just have to keep going! Whether it be in the ring facing an opponent of finishing off a tough session!

7)   Making friends

I have a bucket load of likeminded girlfriends who I have met through boxing, not only do we love to train together but we love to socialise and I have made some lifelong friends though this sport!
